Plan a Grow-Out Tank for Juvenile Fish

Biomass can rise faster than it appears. A tank that safely holds tiny fry may be inadequate once the group begins rapid growth.

Plan the next move before hatching

Prepare and cycle the grow-out system while the adults are being conditioned.

Use footprint and behaviour

Active livebearers need swimming length; cichlid juveniles may need territory; labyrinth fish may need access to warm surface air.

Expand filtration gradually

Move seasoned sponges with the fish or add mature filtration before the transfer. Do not rely on a new filter alone.

Distribute food

Use multiple feeding areas so smaller fry can eat without constant competition.

Reduce density responsibly

Rehome, separate sexes and retain only the number you can maintain. Do not release surplus fish.
