Rehome, Sell or Trade Juvenile Aquarium Fish Responsibly

A successful handoff protects the fish after it leaves your aquarium. Price and colour are less important than truthful care information and a suitable destination.

Confirm the recipient can house adults

Ask about tank size, social group, water and existing fish. A juvenile’s current size is not its permanent requirement.

Share accurate details

Provide species or best identification, strain, approximate age, sex when reliable, diet, adult size, known parentage and health history.

Do not move sick fish

Pause distribution when a group shows unexplained illness or mortality. Quarantine and diagnosis come first.

Package and transport appropriately

Use suitable bags or containers, stable temperature and short travel time. Commercial shipping rules and carrier policies may apply.

Keep a fallback home

Never breed on the assumption that a store or buyer must accept the offspring.
